One of the biggest blocks to confidence

One of my favorite quotes from Marianne Williamson includes this statement “Look at little children in kindergarten. They’re all different without trying to be. As long as they are unselfconsciously being themselves, they can’t help but shine.”

We are NATURALLY shining. That’s what captivating confidence is like. A woman who is unapologetically being herself.

What keeps us from being ourselves?

COMPARING OURSELVES TO OTHER PEOPLE

There is nothing that ZAPS confidence the way comparison does. I know this in myself too. One second of the thought of some other woman and how “I’m not like her” feels as startling to my heart as popping an inflated balloon.

I used to spend a LOT of time comparing myself to other women. Here’s the truth about why we compare ourselves, it’s distracting.

Truly, we GET something from comparing ourselves to other women and that’s DISTRACTION from doing any work on ourselves, connecting with ourselves, listening to ourselves and/or taking action toward what we want to create.

Comparison is an energy zapper. Without energy, we freeze.

When I was comparing myself to other women, jealous of their bodies, their partnerships, their success, I took zero action toward creating anything for myself in my life.

It was ONLY when I turned toward myself, made time for myself, my dreams, my desires, and then actually took action around them that everything changed. When I am doing my own thing and feeling connected to it, I compare myself to other women less and less. Even better, when I am connected to myself and I see other women I’m “jealous” of – I use it as fuel to take action! I end up being happy for them and their success and say to myself “Wow, this must be something I want too!” So I take the next right action toward making it happen for me.

Do you find yourself constantly comparing yourself to other women?

Jealous of their partnerships, their success and happiness?

Today, become unwilling to spend one more second not living the life of your dreams and take action toward creating whatever it is you want.

THIS is confidence.

Confidence in who we are and our ability to create the lives we dream of.
